Galle, August 18: Young India left-arm spinner Manav Suthar said he has a lot to learn from veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja after the duo combined effectively in the first Test against Sri Lanka at Galle.
Suthar impressed on his Test debut, claiming 4/76, while Jadeja picked up 3/57 as India bowled Sri Lanka out for 284 and secured a commanding 178-run first-innings lead. Suthar said bowling alongside Jadeja provided a valuable learning experience, particularly the senior spinner’s ability to maintain consistency and use the bowling crease effectively.
“His consistency while bowling at the stumps is world class,” Suthar said, highlighting Jadeja’s ability to stick to his plans regardless of the batter’s approach. The young spinner also credited his preparation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence ahead of the series, where he trained with Kookaburra balls and worked on adapting to conditions similar to those in Galle.
