New Delhi, August 18: Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to undertake a comprehensive audit of its examination processes and implement an overhaul of its systems following recent issues related to examinations.

The directions were issued during a review meeting with the Secretary, Department of Higher Education, NTA Director General and senior officials. The minister stressed strict compliance with established examination protocols and ordered an overhaul of the NTA’s Confidential Operations (CONOPS) architecture on a “war footing”.

The measures include strengthening secluded examination rooms, implementing air-gapped systems and enforcing protocols for depositing electronic devices to improve examination security. The NTA has also been asked to conduct a thorough audit of all examination processes and submit a report detailing corrective action taken.

The review comes after the NTA announced re-tests for three UGC-NET June 2026 papers — English, Commerce and Sociology — following complaints about errors in the question papers. The English and Commerce papers are scheduled for September 9, while Sociology will be held on September 10.

The latest measures are aimed at strengthening examination integrity, improving operational security and restoring confidence among students and other stakeholders.
