Aug 15: This Independence Day, GM Modular, one of India’s leading electrical and smart home solutions brands, pays an emotional tribute to the countless heroes who have placed the nation before themselves through a powerful new film built around the message “Jab Jab Sankat Aya, Unhone Khud Se Pehle Bharat Ko Chuna.” Moving beyond the conventional remembrance of the freedom struggle, the film honours every Shaheed; from those who sacrificed their lives during India’s fight for independence to those who continue to put the nation before themselves in times of crisis.
The film begins with a simple yet poignant moment between a young boy and his mother. While listening to “Subh Sukh Chain”, the boy notices its resemblance to India’s National Anthem and innocently asks his mother, “Maa, yeh kaunsa gaana hai?” His question takes the audience back to the story of the Azad Hind Fauj and the sacrifices made by those who fought for India’s freedom. The mother then takes the story beyond history books, explaining that the spirit of sacrifice did not end with Independence. Whenever the nation has faced a crisis, people from different walks of life have stepped forward; whether in the uniform of the Army, Police or Fire Services, or as doctors, social workers and other frontline heroes. Different uniforms, different professions, but one shared belief: Bharat comes first.
The film beautifully captures the idea that being a Shaheed is not limited to one particular uniform or one chapter of history. It is about those who, when faced with a moment of crisis, chose the nation over themselves. Through the mother’s words, the film makes a powerful appeal to every parent: tell your children their stories. The film features Neetu Jakhar, renowned DIY artist and home décor influencer, in the role of the mother. Her involvement brings an especially personal dimension to the narrative, as she is the daughter of an Army personnel and the wife of an Army personnel. Having grown up with the values of discipline, duty and service to the nation and continuing to experience them closely through her family, Neetu connects deeply with the film’s emotional core. Her portrayal of a mother introducing her son to the stories of sacrifice reflects the real responsibility of families in keeping the memories of our heroes alive for future generations.
