India’s Wedding and Film industries to come together for the first time at WV Connect 2026 in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Aug 10: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the country’s wedding and film industries will converge on a common platform when WV Connect Season 4, Asia’s largest B2B wedding summit, to be held from September 1 to 3, 2026, at Arth Resorts, Hyderabad, under the theme “Weddings & Films.”

India’s ₹10-lakh-crore wedding economy and one of the country’s largest film ecosystems on a common business platform is a very unique development.

The three-day summit is expected to bring together more than 800 delegates from over 20 cities, including wedding planners, production designers, filmmakers, event companies, luxury hospitality brands, destination wedding specialists, photographers, decorators, cinematographers, choreographers, venue operators and technology providers, creating new business opportunities between two of India’s fastest-growing creative industries.

The summit countdown began with the ceremonial flag-off at Arth Resorts by Kishore Reddy, Chairman & Managing Director, Arth Resorts, in the presence of Ruchi Pant, Chief Business Officer, Ramoji Film City; Shwetha Sabu Cyril, noted Art Director and Production Designer who worked on Bahubali etc ; Photriya Venky, celebrity and wedding photographer, along with industry leaders and media representatives.

At first glance, weddings and films may seem like two different worlds. In reality, they are built on the same foundation—storytelling, creativity and emotion.

Every Indian wedding today is, in many ways, a live film production. It has a script, a director, a cast, elaborate sets, lighting, music, choreography, costumes, cinematography and post-production. The only difference is that one unfolds on screen, while the other unfolds in real life.

The biggest “set” in India is no longer always built for a film. Many luxury weddings today feature production design and décor whose scale rivals—and sometimes exceeds—the budgets of regional films. Yet, while a film set may exist for months, a spectacular wedding venue often comes alive for just a few hours before being dismantled. Some of India’s finest creative work is experienced briefly and then disappears.

The two industries already share the same creative talent pool. Art directors, production designers, lighting experts, cinematographers, choreographers, costume designers, drone operators and digital creators move seamlessly between film sets and wedding venues. Wedding cinematography has evolved into filmmaking, while cinema continues to influence wedding design, storytelling and visual experiences. Increasingly, the inspiration flows both ways.

India has the world’s largest wedding market and one of the world’s largest film industries. Both are experience-driven businesses. Neither merely sells a product—they create memories. One creates memories for millions of audiences; the other creates memories that families cherish for generations. Bringing these two creative ecosystems together is not just natural—it is inevitable.

“Films create memories for millions. Weddings create memories for generations. Both are powered by the same creativity, craftsmanship and emotion. WV Connect is the first platform to formally bring these two worlds together.

One industry creates dreams on screen. The other creates dreams in real life. For the first time, they are meeting not as spectators, but as business partners.

It is unique in many ways. It is a first for two creative industries. While India’s film and wedding industries have long shared creative talent—from production designers and art directors to lighting technicians, costume designers, choreographers and cinematographers—WV Connect is the first organised business platform designed to formally connect the two sectors for collaboration, innovation and commercial partnerships.

The convergence of the wedding and film industries opens up significant opportunities for business, innovation and employment. Film art directors and production designers can bring cinematic scale to premium wedding venues and destination celebrations. Film studios and shooting locations can emerge as sought-after wedding destinations, while cinema technicians—including lighting, sound, camera, drone and VFX professionals—can access year-round assignments beyond film production. Wedding planners, in turn, can leverage film-style production techniques, immersive storytelling, virtual production, projection mapping and AI-powered guest experiences to create memorable celebrations. The platform also enables hospitality companies, tourism stakeholders, technology providers, brands and sponsors to collaborate and tap into both industries through a single business ecosystem.

The benefits extend well beyond the two sectors. Stronger collaboration can generate sustained employment for thousands of creative professionals and freelancers, while boosting destination wedding tourism that drives hotel occupancy, local transport, shopping and hospitality revenues. It can create new opportunities for MSMEs such as fabricators, florists, decorators, lighting vendors, costume designers, printers, logistics providers and event management companies. By encouraging the adoption of advanced production techniques and global best practices, the initiative can enhance skill development, raise professional standards and strengthen India’s rapidly growing creative economy, where weddings, entertainment, hospitality and tourism increasingly intersect.

The summit aims to explore how filmmaking techniques, production design, visual storytelling and technology can transform the wedding experience, while opening new business avenues for film professionals through India’s rapidly expanding wedding economy.

The summit will feature keynote addresses, WedX Talks, curated B2B meetings, speed networking sessions, knowledge forums, experiential showcases and the WV Awards 2026, recognising excellence in India’s wedding industry.

Participants will include representatives from luxury hotels, destination management companies, tourism boards, film studios, event management firms, designers, photographers, production houses and wedding entrepreneurs.q

Organisers said Hyderabad was chosen because it uniquely combines one of India’s fastest-growing luxury wedding markets with one of the country’s largest film production ecosystems.

WV Connect Season 4 is guided by an Advisory Board comprising leading personalities from the film, hospitality and wedding industries, including Sabu Cyril, internationally acclaimed production designer; Kumar Raja, Founder of Design by Raja and Strategic Alliance Partner; Ruchi Pant, Chief Business Officer, Ramoji Film City; Aditya Motwane; Gitika Ganju Dhar; Amit Sarin of Black Rock Hotels; and Sumit Ghosh of Arth Resorts.

N. DakshinaaMurthi, Founder & CEO, WV Connect, said: India’s wedding and film industries have evolved alongside each other for years, sharing talent, creativity and technology. WV Connect 2026 is the first structured platform that brings these ecosystems together to collaborate, create business opportunities and redefine experiential celebrations. Hyderabad, with its leadership in both weddings and cinema, is the ideal city to host this convergence.”
