Chandigarh, August 07, 2026: With an aim to further strengthen public safety, Chandigarh Power Distribution Limited (CPDL) has enabled consumers to report electrical safety-related concerns through its dedicated WhatsApp helpline 9240216666.
Consumers just need to message ‘Help’ on the WhatsApp Number and further share the photo and location to report a safety concern.
Consumers can use the helpline to report damaged electrical
Brajesh Kumar, CEO, CPDL, said “We appeal to residents to immediately report any snapped, loose or damaged electricity wires lying on roads or in public places or any other electrical safety related concern, through the WhatsApp number so that immediate action can be taken. Public safety is our priority, and timely information from residents can help us respond quickly”.
CPDL has also advised residents to maintain a safe distance from electrical poles, transformers and exposed or damaged electrical wires, particularly during and after rainfall.
Parents have been urged to ensure that children stay away from waterlogged areas and electrical installations, especially during the monsoon season.
CPDL officials appealed to consumers to follow the safety advisory and report electrical hazards immediately to help prevent accidents and ensure the safety of residents.
Box – Steps to Report an Electrical Safety Hazard via CPDL WhatsApp
Step 1: Save CPDL WhatsApp Helpline 9240216666 and send “Help”
Step 2: Receive the welcome message titled “CPDL Safety Hazard Reporting” and click “Select Safety Hazard”.
Step 3: Select the appropriate hazard category:
* Hanging / Snapped Wire
* Sparking
* Damaged / Leaning Pole
* Open Panel
* Transformer Issue
* Tree on Power Line
* Unsafe Connection
* Other Electrical Hazard
Step 4: Enter the complete address of the location.
Step 5: Upload a clear photograph of the safety hazard.
Step 6: Share your current location through Whatsapp.
Step 7: Enter any remarks about the hazard (or send 0 to skip).
Step 8: Submit the report. A safety hazard incident will be generated, and an acknowledgement with the incident details will be sent to you on WhatsApp.
