Hyderabad, Aug 04: Pegasystems Inc. (NASDAQ: PEGA), the enterprise AI software company for mission-critical work, announced new and expanded university partnerships under its University Academic Program (UAP) at its flagship event, PEGAInnovate. As agentic AI and intelligent automation reshape how enterprises build and run their most important work, Pega is embedding these in-demand skills directly into engineering education. With 23 universities already on board and plans to add another 30 to 40 this year, VEMU Technical University joins as a brand-new partner. At the same time, the University of Engineering & Management (UEM), Kolkata, and Woxsen University mark the expansion of Pega’s growing academic footprint.
Through this direct model with universities, Pega elevates faculty capability and builds a pipeline of Pega-certified students fluent in agentic AI, Gen AI, and enterprise automation. It reflects Pega’s conviction that upskilling of this kind is no longer optional; it is vital to India’s digital ambitions and long-term economic resilience.
In collaboration, Pega and its university partners will:
· Train and certify university professors on the latest Pega technologies so that they can teach the modernized curriculum to engineering students independently
· Work with Pega’s implementation partners to build students’ professional and consultative skills, producing future, industry-ready talent
Each partnership runs as a 1.5-year engagement per cohort, averaging 40 to 50 students, with universities free to build year-on-year cohorts as they see merit. Notably, several universities have approved Pega’s UAP as a credit course embedded in their curricula, so students earn formal academic recognition alongside industry-future-ready skills.
Quotes & Commentary:
“When you train the faculty, you change what thousands of students learn for years afterwards, not just one graduating batch,” said Deepak Visweswaraiah, senior vice president and managing director, Pega India. “That is the real shift with VEMU, UEM, and Woxsen: we certify the professors first, so Pega skills become part of how these universities teach rather than a one-off add-on. VEMU is starting fresh with us this year, while at UEM and Woxsen the professors we trained are now skilled to teach the modernized UAP curriculum independently. That model of upskilling faculty is how we scale our impact and bring UAP’s future-ready curriculum to more and more students. Each is a long-term commitment to Indian talent, and to graduates who leave campus with both a degree and a credential the market already recognizes.”
“VEMU Institute of Technology is proud to partner with Pega in strengthening industry-academia collaboration. This partnership reflects our commitment to equipping students with future-ready skills, industry exposure, and meaningful career opportunities. We look forward to achieving greater impact together,” said Dean, VEMU Technical University.
“We are delighted to partner with Pega to foster innovation, industry collaboration, and future-ready talent. At Woxsen University, we are committed to empowering students through experiential learning, emerging technologies, and meaningful industry engagement. We look forward to strengthening this partnership and creating impactful opportunities for our students and faculty.”
“Through this strategic partnership, Pega will empower students with cutting-edge skills in low-code application development, AI-powered automation, and digital transformation. The initiative will offer structured learning, global Pega certifications, internships, faculty enablement, workshops, and industry engagement to create a future-ready talent pool. This collaboration reinforces Pega’s commitment to bridging the digital skills gap while enabling UEM students to excel in the evolving technology landscape.”
