Bhogapuram, Aug 1: Andhra Pradesh entered a new phase of infrastructure development with the inauguration of the Bhogapuram Greenfield International Airport, a landmark project expected to transform regional connectivity, strengthen tourism, and support economic growth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport, developed at a cost of over ₹5,640 crore by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Limited under a public-private partnership model. The airport’s first phase has been designed to serve around six million passengers annually, providing modern aviation facilities for travellers and businesses.
The new airport is expected to create fresh opportunities for trade, investment, employment, and tourism by improving access to Andhra Pradesh’s coastal region. Better air connectivity will also help industries, entrepreneurs, and local communities benefit from increased economic activity.
Alongside the inauguration, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹17,900 crore across the state. The projects include a semiconductor facility in Visakhapatnam, renewable energy transmission infrastructure in Kurnool and Anantapur, and four national highway projects aimed at strengthening transportation networks.
The airport project reflects the growing focus on modern infrastructure as a driver of regional development. By connecting people, businesses, and destinations, Bhogapuram International Airport is expected to become an important gateway for Andhra Pradesh’s future growth.
With improved connectivity and new investments in technology, energy, and transport, the state is set to gain greater opportunities in industry, tourism, and innovation.
