Bengaluru, July 29: Jagdish Sheth School of Management announced a 35 percentage increase in admissions. The primary factors leading to this increase are the institute’s insistence on industry-forward teaching, global accreditations and growing trust in the brand.

This year’s intake reflects rising interest in specialised, standalone management schools that offer focused academic pathways and closer alignment with evolving industry requirements. “Students today are asking more informed questions. They want to understand how a programme will help them develop domain expertise and the ability to perform in a rapidly changing workplace,” said Dr Sridevi, Director, JAGSoM

Students are increasingly considering career-oriented specialisations, innovation of pedagogy, quality of education, and an institution’s ability to support long-term professional development. The increase in applications and admissions for JAGSoM, one of India’s first AACSB accredited global business schools, reflects a shift among aspiring management professionals.

This upward swing comes at a time when prospective management students are becoming more deliberate about how they evaluate a business school. JAGSoM’s Transparent Placement Report has been a standout factor to build trust in the school to deliver what it promises for students. “The growth in applications and admissions is encouraging. More importantly, it reflects a change in what students value. They are looking beyond legacy brand names and evaluating the learning experience, pedagogy, industry exposure and professional outcomes offered by an institution. This is evident in a significant increase we have seen in our applicant percentile in national competitive exams,” Dr Sridevi added.

The academic experience at JAGSoM lays emphasis on applied learning, industry engagement and capabilities that extend beyond classroom knowledge. This professional orientation begins with the institute’s month-long induction process, designed to help students understand the business environment, reflect on their individual strengths and prepare for the demands of management education.

“Our induction follows a three-pronged approach. Sectoral talks by industry leaders from organisations such as Razorpay, Flipkart and Amazon help students understand changing business realities and workplace expectations. Industry visits to organisations such as IKEA, Microsoft and TVS allow them to observe operations, systems and decision-making in practice,” said Suman, Director- Center for Continuous Learning and Employability, JAGSoM.

“The third component involves team-based challenges where pressure, uncertainty and group behaviour become visible. Students begin to understand how they communicate, make decisions, handle conflict, support others and respond when situations do not go as planned,” Dr. M. Sivagnanasundaram, Dean, added.

JAGSoM also conducts an independently developed psychometric evaluation for its incoming cohort of students. The assessment helps students understand their natural learning styles, professional development areas and potential role fitment.

These interventions establish a common foundation for a diverse set of students from 25 different states, while allowing each student to identify the specific capabilities they need to develop during the programme.

The significant increase in applications and admissions reflects trust, reliability and a commitment to help students grow to their fullest potential both during and after their time at JAGSoM. There is a growing demand for holistic institutional support within and beyond the classroom, and the increased interest in JAGSoM’s approach to education and support shows a viable model to prepare students for an ever-changing world.
