July 18: Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, President of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning , and Chairman of the Council of University Presidents of Thailand , led a delegation of executives from Thai higher education institutions to participate in the Asian Lifelong Learning Conference , held from July 3 to 5, 2026, at Universiti Malaysia Sabah  in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. 

The conference, held under the theme “Bridging Borders and Building Futures: Lifelong Learning for Sustainable Development and Digital Transformation in Asia,” marked the 165th ASAIHL Conference. It brought together university leaders, academics, researchers, and students from across Asia and around the world to exchange knowledge and experiences on lifelong learning, sustainable development, digital transformation, trilateral collaboration among academia, industry, and government, community engagement, educational innovation, and human resource development for the future of work. 

The conference also served as an important opportunity for Professor Dr. Wilert, in his capacities as ASAIHL President and CUPT Chairman, to strengthen collaborative networks among ASAIHL member institutions, CUPT member universities, and higher education institutions throughout Thailand. 

During the conference, Chulalongkorn University officially accepted the responsibility of hosting the 166th ASAIHL International Conference, which will take place December 2 to 4, 2026 in Bangkok, Thailand. The conference will be co-hosted by Chulalongkorn University and Srinakharinwirot University under the theme “Beyond Borders: Creating a New Growth Revolution in Higher Education.”
