Noida, July 2026: Continuous rainfall and rapid seasonal changes have led to a noticeable increase in viral infections. Children, senior citizens, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions are particularly vulnerable during this period. Hospital outpatient departments are witnessing a steady rise in patients presenting with symptoms such as fever, cold, cough, sore throat, body aches, and fatigue.
Dr. Prakhar Garg, Associate Director – Internal Medicine, Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Sector-110, Noida, said, “Due to persistent rainfall and changing weather conditions, we have observed nearly a 20–30% increase in viral infection cases. Currently, we are seeing around 30 to 40 patients daily with symptoms including fever, cold, cough, sore throat, and body weakness. Children and the elderly are the most affected because of their relatively weaker immune systems.”
He further added, “To reduce the risk of infection during this season, people should stay well-hydrated, consume a balanced and nutritious diet, maintain proper hand hygiene, avoid getting drenched in the rain, and wear a mask in crowded places whenever necessary. If fever persists for more than two to three days, or if symptoms such as breathlessness or severe weakness develop, medical attention should be sought immediately. Antibiotics should not be taken without a doctor’s advice, as most viral infections are self-limiting and do not require antibiotic treatment.”
Experts emphasize that simple preventive measures, good personal hygiene, and timely medical consultation can significantly reduce the risk of viral infections and prevent associated complications during the monsoon season.
