Mumbai, July 10: The Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society , India’s largest and oldest voluntary professional body of Chartered Accountants, celebrated its 78th Foundation Day in Mumbai, marking a significant milestone in its legacy of knowledge-sharing, professional upskilling, and nation-building.

Addressing the Foundation Day conclave, Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, Shri Arvind Datar, emphasized the critical role of manufacturing and institutional reforms in India’s growth journey. He said,
“India’s aspiration to become a Viksit Bharat must be anchored in a clear sense of urgency, with a strong focus on manufacturing, employment generation and globally competitive institutions. While services will continue to play an important role, building a resilient manufacturing ecosystem is essential for sustainable economic growth, self-reliance and creating meaningful employment opportunities. Equally important is fostering a policy environment that encourages innovation, simplifies doing business and inspires confidence among investors.”
Speaking on the theme “Four Hurdles to overcome for Viksit Bharat” in fireside chat address, Shri Datar emphasised,
“Economic progress and democracy are not mutually exclusive. India’s greatest strength lies in its democratic institutions, but achieving the vision of a developed nation requires greater decentralisation, empowered local governance, regulatory certainty and a predictable investment climate. Strengthening ease of doing business, ensuring policy consistency and providing confidence to domestic and global investors will be critical in accelerating India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat.”
Continuing its annual tradition of leadership transition, BCAS announced its new office bearers during the Founding Day celebrations. CA Kinjal Shah assumed office as President, while CA Mandar Telang took over as Vice President, CA Mrinal Mehta as Treasurer, and CA Kinjal Bhuta and CA Samit Saraf as Joint Secretaries.
Celebrating the 78th year milestone, CA Kinjal Shah, President at BCAS,
