Thomson Andrews’s GHAMMAK Sets a New Benchmark in Cultural Diplomacy Through India–Bhutan Cultural Music Exchange

Mumbai, 1st July: At a time when cultural diplomacy is reshaping international relationships, Indian artist, cultural curator and creative entrepreneur Thomson Andrews®️ is redefining the landscape with GHAMMAK™ (Global Harmonies Across Music, Media, Arts & Knowledge) an artist-led global platform dedicated to fostering meaningful cross-border collaborations through music, media, arts and knowledge exchange.

In its inaugural international initiative, GHAMMAK™ convened leading artists, cultural institutions, policymakers and creative professionals from India and Bhutan for a first-of-its-kind Cultural Music Exchange in Mumbai. Conceived as a long-term platform for artistic collaboration rather than a standalone event, the initiative created opportunities for musicians, filmmakers, producers, educators and cultural leaders to exchange ideas, build partnerships and celebrate the shared cultural heritage of the two nations.

Presented in association with Bhutan’s Department of Media, Creative Industry & Intellectual Property (DOMCIIP) and supported by Experience Partner BLVCKOUT Events and Experiences, the exchange welcomed an official delegation from Bhutan alongside some of the country’s most respected musicians, composers, filmmakers and creative practitioners. The programme featured collaborative performances, studio sessions, industry interactions, workshops and creative dialogues exploring new avenues for cross-cultural innovation and international partnerships.

The exchange also witnessed the participation of some of India’s most celebrated names in music and entertainment, including Padma Shri Suresh Wadkar, Falguni Pathak, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Grammy Award-winning recording engineer P.A. Deepak, PMK Naveen Kumar, Hamsika Iyer, Shweta Pandit, Merlin D’Souza, Sameer Uddin, Shahzad Ali, Sabyasachi Deb, along with several other distinguished artists, composers, producers and creative professionals from both India and Bhutan. Their presence reinforced GHAMMAK™’s vision of uniting diverse creative voices to inspire dialogue, collaboration and artistic excellence.

Beyond celebrating artistic expression, GHAMMAK™ reflects the growing importance of the creative economy as a catalyst for international engagement. By connecting artists with governments, cultural institutions and industry stakeholders, the platform seeks to strengthen cultural ecosystems, encourage knowledge-sharing and create sustainable opportunities for creative entrepreneurship across borders.

Speaking about the vision behind the initiative, Thomson Andrews, Founder and Curator of GHAMMAK™, said: “Culture has the unique ability to build bridges where words often fall short. GHAMMAK™ was created to empower artists and creative professionals to collaborate beyond geographical boundaries and become ambassadors of cultural understanding. Our vision is to build a global ecosystem where creativity becomes a catalyst for dialogue, innovation and lasting international partnerships.”

As governments and creative industries increasingly recognise the strategic value of cultural diplomacy, GHAMMAK™ represents a new generation of initiatives blending artistic collaboration with global engagement. Building on the success of its India–Bhutan edition, the platform aims to expand its footprint by facilitating future exchanges with more countries, strengthening creative ecosystems and promoting meaningful international collaborations through music, media, arts and knowledge.
