Championing Well-being Beyond Academics, WeSchool Marks International Yoga Day 2026

Mumbai, June 22: Marking the 12th International Yoga DayWeSchool (Prin. L. N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research) organized a yoga session for its faculty members, professors and staff, reaffirming its commitment to promoting holistic wellbeing and a healthy lifestyle. This year’s theme, Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” highlighted the importance of incorporating yoga into daily life to enhance physical, mental and emotional wellness.

The session was conducted by an experienced yoga instructor, who guided participants through a series of beginner-friendly yoga asanas, breathing exercises and mindfulness practices. The instructor explained the significance of yoga in maintaining overall health and demonstrated simple yet effective postures, making the session accessible and enjoyable for participants of all age groups and fitness levels.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members and staff, who embraced the opportunity to pause from their busy schedules and focus on their wellbeing. Participants found the experience refreshing, energising, and deeply relaxing, with many appreciating the practical techniques shared to manage stress and improve concentration.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Dr Uday Salunkhe, Group Director at WeSchool (Prin. L. N. Prof. Dr Pankaj Natu, Director, MMS, Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research (PGDM), said, “In this fast-paced world, students face significant academic pressure and uncertainty about the future. Practising yoga regularly can help them balance their body, mind and emotions, improving focus, physical wellbeing and inner stability. Yoga also instils empathy, resilience and self-awareness, qualities that are essential for both personal and professional success. Sharing her personal experience, Dr Rohita Dwivedi, Associate Professor, Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Marketing, said, “As we celebrate the 12th International Yoga Day 2026 with the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing, I can confidently say that yoga has helped me navigate life’s challenges with greater balance and positivity. Regular practice has improved my overall wellbeing, strengthened mindfulness and encouraged a healthier approach to daily life. Most importantly, yoga teaches us to face challenges with confidence, not by asking ‘Why me?’ but by saying ‘Try me.’”

International Yoga Day, observed annually on June 21, has evolved into a global movement over the past 12 years, encouraging individuals to embrace healthier, more mindful lifestyles.
