June 18: Payful, a Chinese cross-border payments company with a subsidiary in Hong Kong, has launched a cloud-native Visa charge card programme for corporate and merchant clients powered by BPC’s next-generation SmartVista platform.

The new programme enables Payful to provide businesses with a secure, efficient, and flexible way to manage corporate spending through virtual Visa charge cards hosted in the cloud. Merchants gain enhanced control over payments, while users benefit from a seamless digital card experience with advanced security features and real-time transaction visibility.

To support its growth ambitions, Payful sought a modern card issuing solution that could be deployed quickly while maintaining operational efficiency and cost effectiveness. The company chose a cloud-based approach to ensure scalability and long-term flexibility. BPC’s SmartVista platform stood out as the only solution capable of meeting these requirements, offering a future-ready technology foundation and a subscription model aligned with Payful’s expansion strategy.

By upgrading its issuing capabilities with SmartVista’s cloud-ready architecture, Payful can now launch new card programmes rapidly  including six Visa charge card products designed for purchasing, travel, and corporate credit needs  without the need for extensive custom development. The solution incorporates advanced fraud prevention capabilities, combining adaptive transaction scoring with 3DS 2.0 authentication to help secure every payment.

Through SmartVista’s integration capabilities, Payful connected its core banking system via CBSGate APIs and introduced a real-time notification service, enabling instant updates for merchants and cardholders.

The cloud-based solution links each Visa card directly to merchants’ dedicated settlement accounts with Payful, allowing businesses to securely manage supplier payments, employee travel expenses, and other corporate transactions without transferring funds to external wallets.

Ben Wang, General Manager of Card Business Unit, International Division, Payful, said:

“Working with BPC has enabled us to build a future-ready card issuing business within a year. Merchants can now manage settlement funds through Visa credentials, simplifying supplier payments and employee travel while maintaining strong fraud controls. Our next step is to extend this successful model into key export markets across Oceania, Europe, and the Americas.”

Nikhil Gujral, Head of Sales, APAC, BPC, added:

“Payful needed a technology partner that could help them innovate at fintech speed. SmartVista’s cloud-native microservices architecture provided the agility, scalability, and resilience required to launch this programme and support expansion into new markets beyond Hong Kong.”
