Jitin Prasada

Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology and Commerce & Industry Jitin Prasada on December 21, 2025, said that emerging technologies such as drone technology, the Internet of Things (IoT), and cybersecurity are playing a crucial role in generating new employment opportunities across the country.

Addressing the Technology and Skill Development Conference at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Extension Centre in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh, Shri Prasada emphasised the growing importance of technology-driven skills in shaping India’s future workforce. He attended the event as the Chief Guest, with the conference aimed at promoting skill development, innovation, and entrepreneurship among youth.

Referring to the government’s vision of Digital India and Atmanirbhar Bharat, the Minister said institutions such as NIELIT are acting as a critical bridge between policy formulation and on-ground implementation. He noted that these institutions are playing a vital role in delivering advanced technical education and industry-relevant skills to remote and semi-urban regions. Skill development aligned with industry requirements, he added, would position India as a global technology leader.

Strong Participation from Industry, Academia and Youth

The conference witnessed participation from Members of the Legislative Assembly, senior district and administrative officials, representatives from academia and industry, startup entrepreneurs, and NIELIT officials. A large number of students, trainees, and local youth actively engaged in the sessions.

A major highlight of the event was a technology exhibition by drone technology startups, which showcased innovative applications in agriculture, crop monitoring, pesticide spraying, land surveying, mapping, disaster management, surveillance, and logistics. The exhibition offered participants hands-on insights into real-world use cases and highlighted the growing role of startups in driving technological innovation and job creation.

IoT Lab Inaugurated at NIELIT Pilibhit

On the occasion, Shri Prasada also inaugurated a state-of-the-art IoT Laboratory at NIELIT Pilibhit. The facility is designed to provide hands-on, industry-oriented training to students from Pilibhit and nearby regions. The lab will enable learners to work with smart sensors, embedded systems, automation tools, and real-time IoT applications, thereby enhancing employability and technical competence.

The IoT Lab is expected to help bridge the gap between academia and industry, promote innovation-led learning, and encourage entrepreneurship among local youth. It will also support startups and innovators by providing access to modern infrastructure and expert technical guidance.

Focus on Cybersecurity Awareness

The conference also featured a dedicated workshop on cybersecurity, where experts discussed cybercrime awareness, prevention of digital fraud, data privacy, safe internet usage, and emerging cyber threats. The session proved beneficial for students, educators, government officials, and citizens, strengthening awareness about secure and responsible digital practices.

In addition, the event included technical sessions, interactive discussions, and awareness programmes focused on emerging technologies, government skill development initiatives, and career opportunities in the electronics and IT sectors.

The Technology and Skill Development Conference concluded with a renewed commitment from NIELIT to strengthen the digital ecosystem in rural and semi-urban areas and empower youth through technology-driven skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
