Gurugram, June 10: In an effort to promote environmental sustainability and community engagement, KIIT World School, Gurugram, has launched a unique initiative called “ReFab.” Under this initiative, old and unused fabrics are transformed into attractive and durable handcrafted bags instead of being discarded as waste.KIIT World School Takes a Significant Step Towards Environmental Conservation and Women Empowerment

Every year, millions of tons of textile waste end up in landfills across the world, causing significant environmental damage. Recognizing this growing concern, KIIT World School has taken a meaningful step towards giving discarded fabrics a new purpose while encouraging responsible consumption.

What makes the project unique is its collaborative approach. Students of KIIT World School actively participate in brainstorming, conceptualizing, and designing the bags. Once the designs are finalized, the donated fabrics are handed over to skilled local homemakers who craft them into beautiful and functional bags.

Through ReFab, the school is not only addressing the issue of textile waste but also creating opportunities for local homemakers by supporting their skills and providing them with an avenue for economic empowerment.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Neelima Kamrah, Principal, KIIT World School, said,

“ReFab is not just a project; it is a message of responsibility and awareness. Our students are learning that even small actions can create a significant impact on society and the environment. We are proud that this initiative promotes environmental conservation while simultaneously empowering local homemakers. We believe that with community participation, ReFab can grow into a larger movement for sustainable living.”

The school has also appealed to members of the community to donate old and unused fabrics at KIIT World School so that they can be repurposed and contribute to a cleaner, greener future.
