IHCL Reaffirms Commitment To Responsible Hospitality On World Environment Day

MUMBAI, JUNE 5, 2026: Marking World Environment Day, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), guided by its ESG+ framework of Paathya, reaffirms its commitment to advancing responsible hospitality. Conceived as a path to positive change, Paathya integrates IHCL’s initiatives across clean energy, water stewardship, circular operations, waste reduction, green mobility and verifiable sustainability standards.

As the industry evolves, there is an opportunity to align business performance with environmental stewardship, while responding to the expectations of conscious travellers.IHCL’s approach through Paathya reflects this direction, combining operational measures with initiatives that extend to the communities and ecosystems we are part of.”

IHCL continues to make steady progress in reducing its environmental footprint, with 41% of its electricity sourced through renewable resources. The company has installed 386 EV charging stations across 171 locations, operates 108 in-house organic waste composting plants, and runs 85 water bottling plants to reduce dependence on single-use plastics. Additionally, 54% of wastewater across its hotels is recycled.

IHCL’s community initiatives include support for watershed restoration, rainwater harvesting, revival of traditional water bodies and groundwater recharge across Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, targeting 50 lakh cubic metres of water recharge and savings over three years, while supporting local livelihoods and ecological resilience.

IHCL has defined several short and long-term goals to be fulfilled by 2030 under Paathya. From 50% energy from renewable sources, 100% elimination of single-use plastic across all its hotels to ensuring 100% of waste water is reused, the company’s 100% of hotels will be certified to a global sustainability standard.
