Winston-Salem, North Carolina, May 15 : The Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine will host its 13th Annual Regenerative Medicine Essentials (RME) Summer Course from June 2-4, at Biotech Place in Innovation Quarter in Winston-Salem. The course will be offered in a hybrid format, allowing both in-person and virtual participation from attendees around the world.
The annual RME Summer Course is a premier educational and scientific meeting that brings together global leaders, researchers, clinicians and industry experts to explore the latest advances and future directions in regenerative medicine. Organized as WFIRM’s official course, the program aims to provide participants with both a strong foundational understanding and a forward-looking roadmap for this rapidly evolving field.
“Over the past decade, this course has become a cornerstone for interdisciplinary learning and collaboration in regenerative medicine,” said Joan Schanck, M.PA., course co-director and director of educational programming for WFIRM. “We are excited to once again convene a global community of innovators to share knowledge, inspire new ideas and accelerate progress toward transformative therapies.”
The three-day course will feature keynote lectures, panel discussions, live demonstrations and networking opportunities led by prominent experts from academia, industry and government. Topics will include:
- Stem cells and cell therapies
- Tissue engineering and biomaterials
- 3D printing and enabling technologies
- Clinical trials and commercialization
- Regulatory science, bioethics, and patient advocacy
Designed for a broad audience including researchers, clinicians, students, technicians, investors and policymakers the course fosters collaboration across disciplines and sectors while highlighting emerging career pathways in regenerative medicine. Participants attending virtually will have extended access to course content following the event, enabling continued learning and engagement beyond the live sessions.
Preceding the course, WFIRM will also host the second annual free Regenerative Medicine Science for All Day on June 1, designed to engage students, educators, families, and the broader community through hands-on activities, demonstrations and interactive learning experiences.
Public Day will feature cutting-edge research, engaging talks and animated visuals to explain the “what”, “why” and “how” of regenerative medicine, exploration of biomedical sciences in the K-12 classroom, public-meet-scientists networking, and interactive explorations of career and educational opportunities across North Carolina. Attendees can engage in an industry expo, view through an artistic lens in the Art of Regenerative Medicine science lab and participate in special sessions and activities such as the 2026 RME Public Day Poster Symposium designed for students, teachers and families.
