MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 30 — Matternet, the world’s only FAA Type-Certified drone delivery platform, today announced that Sanjay Kotte, Chief Commercial Officer of Robinhood Money, has joined its Board of Directors. Mr. Kotte was previously Head of Strategic Partnerships at DoorDash, where for nearly seven years he signed and scaled global restaurant partnerships that helped grow the business into a leading on-demand delivery platform. His extensive experience building enterprise-scale logistics partnerships will be an important asset as Matternet scales its commercial drone delivery platform across food, retail, and healthcare markets.
“Drone delivery is going mainstream, and the partnerships we build now will help determine who leads the category,” said Andreas Raptopoulos, Founder and CEO of Matternet. “Sanjay brings deep expertise in partnering with national consumer brands and scaling technology-enabled logistics experiences. That expertise will be invaluable as we expand Matternet’s commercial partnerships and establish the company as the leading drone delivery platform.”
“Drone delivery is poised to redefine last-mile logistics, and Matternet is going to lead that transformation as both an early mover and relentless innovator,” said Mr. Kotte. “I’m thrilled to join the Matternet board and look forward to playing a role in realizing the company’s big vision for global delivery growth.”
Prior to his leadership roles at Robinhood and DoorDash, Mr. Kotte spent nearly a decade at J.P. Morgan focused on M&A across verticals such as Consumer & Retail, Healthcare and Technology. Mr. Kotte holds a B.B.A. in finance and management from Emory University, and an M.B.A. and J.D. from the University of Michigan.
Mr. Kotte’s appointment strengthens Matternet’s board, adding strategic and operational depth as the company accelerates execution against its ambitious growth plans. Matternet has logged more than 60,000 commercial flights across eight countries to date. In the last month, the company announced a partnership with SoftBank Robotics America and the launch of drone delivery operations for the UK’s National Health Service, connecting two of Central London’s busiest hospital campuses through bi-directional aerial routes designed to move critical medical items in minutes.
