Chennai, April 30: Prime Video India today released the official trailer of its upcoming Tamil Original series Exam, a high-stakes suspense drama set in the competitive world of entrance examinations. The trailer was unveiled at an immersive event in Chennai.
Produced by Pushkar-Gayatri under the banner of Wallwatcher Films, the seven-episode series is written and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker A. Sarkunam.
Exam stars Dushara Vijayan and Aditi Balan in lead roles, with Abbas in a pivotal role. The series will stream exclusively on Prime Video from May 15 across India and over 240 countries and territories worldwide in Tamil, with dubs in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, along with subtitles in 15 languages including English.
Set in the fictional rural town of Thykara, Exam explores a deep-rooted scam within the high-pressure ecosystem of competitive entrance exams. The narrative follows Jhansi (Dushara Vijayan), who embarks on a determined mission to expose a widespread network of corruption with the support of her mentor Jayachandran (Abbas). Standing in opposition is DSP Maramalli (Aditi Balan), creating a tense and layered conflict as the story unfolds. As the investigation deepens, the characters discover that the conspiracy is far more complex and far-reaching than anticipated.
Speaking about the series, A. Sarkunam said that Exam goes beyond the surface of exam-related scams, delving into ambition, pressure, and the consequences of personal choices, making it relatable across audiences and geographies.
Dushara Vijayan described her role as one of the most challenging yet rewarding of her career, portraying a character driven by courage and resilience. Aditi Balan highlighted the layered nature of her character, emphasizing the internal and external conflicts faced throughout the narrative. Abbas, marking his return to mainstream Tamil entertainment, noted the series’ gripping storytelling and compelling character dynamics.
