Chandigarh, Apr 30: Ambuja Cements, the 9th largest building materials solutions provider globally and part of the diversified Adani Portfolio, continues to advance integrated rural development through its CSR initiatives. The Gram Panchayat Mangi Buj, a core village supported by the Company in Chandrapur, has secured the 7th rank at the state level under the Government of Maharashtra’s Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 5.0.

The village competed in the population category of 1,500–2,000 residents and achieved a total score of 7,853, reflecting strong performance across sustainability parameters.

This recognition builds on Mangi’s earlier success as a district-level Smart Village, where it was recognised for its comprehensive development across sanitation, infrastructure, and environmental management. The village achieved Open Defecation Free status, solid waste management systems, safe drinking water access, improved road infrastructure, and widespread behavioural change such as plastic bans and community-led cleanliness drives.

Ambuja Cements has played a catalytic role in enabling this transformation through sustained interventions and community engagement. Since 2017, the village has demonstrated strong participation, with residents actively contributing to cleanliness, water conservation, and infrastructure upkeep, supported by the gram panchayat and CSR initiatives.

The village has also implemented forward-looking initiatives such as tree plantation drives, renewable energy adoption, agriculture resource centres, and community infrastructure like RO plants, gyms, and reading spaces, further strengthening its sustainability ecosystem.

The latest state-level recognition under Majhi Vasundhara Abhiyan 5.0 highlights continued progress in environmental conservation, water management, sanitation, and sustainable development practices.

With this milestone, Gram Panchayat Mangi Buj. stands as a model of community-driven, long-term rural transformation, demonstrating how sustained CSR efforts combined with local ownership can create scalable and replicable development outcomes.
