A.M. Jain College Hosts 72nd Graduation Day; 537 Students Graduate

Chennai, Apr 25: Agurchand Manmull Jain (A.M. JainCollege, an NAAC A+ accredited institution, celebrated a significant milestone in its long-standing tradition of academic excellence with its 72nd Graduation Day Ceremony for the aided stream, honouring the achievements of 537 students from the 2023-24 batch across diverse undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. 

Mr. V. Kamakoti Veezhinathan, Padma Shri awardee and Director of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, graced the occasion as Chief Guest and presented certificates to the graduating students.

Mr. Udhan Kumar Chordia, Secretary; Mr. Hemant P. Chordia, Associate Secretary; Mr. Pannalal Chordia, Management Committee Member; Dr. B. Mahavir, Principal, and Dr. M. Ananthanarayanan, Vice Principal were present during the ceremony, which brought together hundreds of students, faculty, family members, and guests. 

The graduating cohort reflects a broad and diverse range of disciplines offered under the aided stream, with the 2023–24 batch achieving an impressive placement rate of over 90%. The programmes span the arts, commerce, science, and management streams, including undergraduate courses such as B.A. Economics, B.A. English Literature, B.A. Philosophy, B.Com. Corporate Secretaryship, B.Com. General, B.Sc. Chemistry, B.Sc. Mathematics, and B.Sc. Physics. Postgraduate offerings include M.A. Economics, M.Com. General, M.Sc. Chemistry, M.Sc. Mathematics, and M.Sc. Physics. 

Mr. V. Kamakoti Veezhinathan addressed the graduating students with an inspiring message that connected advanced concepts like Quantum Physics to everyday indigenous innovations such as Kuppaimeni soap, emphasizing the importance of applying knowledge with purpose while staying rooted in local wisdom. Highlighting the vision of Viksit Bharat, he urged graduates and parents to support Made in India products and contribute to nation-building through conscious choices. He also called upon each graduate to take a pledge to reach their villages, identify at least two students—especially young women—and motivate and support them in pursuing higher education, reinforcing the idea that true success lies in uplifting others. 

In his comments, Mr. Hemant P. Chordia said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our graduating students on this proud achievement. At A.M. Jain College, we have consistently focused on providing our students with maximum exposure and holistic development. Towards this, we have established nearly 30 MoUs with a wide range of organisations and institutions spanning academics, soft skills, and research. Our strong placement record of over 90% stands testimony to this commitment. Annual initiatives such as SARDAR, our intercollegiate cultural programme, and Bazaar, a vibrant platform for innovation, and business acumen, enrich the student experience by fostering cultural engagement, entrepreneurial thinking, and real-world learning opportunities.” 

Established in 1952, A.M. Jain College has a long-standing academic presence in Tamil Nadu, with over seven decades of graduation ceremonies for its self-financed programmes. The institution focuses on academic delivery, industry alignment, and student development, with an emphasis on preparing graduates for professional and societal roles. 

Alongside its aided courses, the college offers a wide range of programmes under the self-financed stream across commerce, science, and the humanities, enabling access to higher education across multiple disciplines. The campus includes facilities such as an international standard cricket ground, a large computer laboratory, smart classrooms, and a fully automated library, supporting both academic and extracurricular activities.
