Kolkata, Apr 24: As LPG usage continues to expand across India, ensuring safety at every stage from filling to delivery remains at the core of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (HPCL) operations.
Behind every cylinder delivered lies a multi–layered safety ecosystem, combining rigorous inspection protocols, automated checks, and strict field-level discipline—ensuring that millions of households receive LPG safely and reliably every day.
Between 1st and 22nd April 2026, HPCL delivered over 277 lakh LPG cylinders across the country, reflecting both the scale of operations and the responsibility of maintaining uncompromised safety standards at every stage of the supply chain.
The safety journey begins at HPCL’s bottling plants, where each cylinder undergoes a series of stringent checks before being filled. This includes:
- Pre-fill inspection to assess cylinder integrity
- Leak detection tests to identify any potential faults
- Automated filling systems to ensure precise and safe dispensing
- Post-fill sealing and weight checks to maintain quality and compliance
Only after passing these checks are cylinders cleared for dispatch.
From bottling plants, cylinders move through a tightly controlled logistics network, with over 1,70,324 tankers dispatched carrying fuel products during this period, ensuring continuous replenishment across the distribution chain.
At the last mile, delivery personnel follow strict safety protocols during transportation and handover. Each cylinder is delivered through DAC/OTP-based authentication, ensuring traceability and secure delivery to the intended consumer.
HPCL has also integrated consumer-facing safety practices into its delivery process. Customers are guided on safe handling, proper installation, and basic leak detection methods, reinforcing safety awareness at the household level.
The Company’s digital ecosystem further strengthens this framework. With 99.2% of LPG bookings now being made through digital platforms, HPCL is able to track the movement of cylinders in real time, enabling better monitoring and faster response in case of any anomalies.
In addition to operational safety, HPCL continues to enforce strict vigilance across its distribution network. Between 14th March and 22nd April 2026, the Company conducted 5,755 inspections, taking action against 156 distributors, including 33 suspensions, while carrying out 663 raids, registering 43 FIRs, and seizing 4,100 LPG cylinders.
This robust enforcement ensures that safety is not just a process, but a discipline maintained across every level of the ecosystem.
HPCL emphasises that LPG supply across its network remains stable and adequately available, with safety protocols being rigorously followed even during periods of increased demand.
Consumers are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow safe usage practices, and rely on authorised HPCL channels for booking and service.
With its end-to-end safety framework spanning plants, logistics, distributors, and households HPCL continues to uphold the highest standards of safety, ensuring that every cylinder delivered is backed by trust, reliability, and operational excellence.
