Mumbai, Apr 23: Sterlite Electric Limited, a leading capital goods manufacturer and system integration solutions provider, has announced a joint venture with RDT Lumiker Aplicaciones Tecnológicas S.L to establish Sterlumiq, a new platform focused on developing advanced cable monitoring optical solutions (CAMOS).

The joint venture has introduced its flagship Cable Advanced Monitoring Optical System (CAMOS)—a next-generation fiber-optic sensing and analytics platform designed to transform traditional power and telecom cables into intelligent, self-monitoring assets.

Enabling Smarter Grid Infrastructure

As power systems evolve with increasing renewable energy integration and grid complexity, CAMOS aims to address the critical gap in real-time visibility of cable networks. The platform integrates fiber-optic sensing, field hardware, and digital analytics to provide continuous monitoring of cable performance.

This enables utilities and infrastructure operators to detect faults early, localize issues accurately, reduce downtime, and shift towards predictive, data-driven asset management.

Leadership Perspective

Pratik Agarwal, Managing Director of Sterlite Electric, stated that the partnership marks a strategic move to bring intelligence and visibility to critical grid infrastructure, supporting the transition to more resilient and data-driven energy systems.

Frederic Trefois, CEO of Sterlite Electric, emphasized that grid infrastructure is rapidly becoming more intelligent, and real-time monitoring capabilities are essential for managing increasingly complex networks.

Manuel Munoz Luengo, CEO of RDT Lumiker and appointed CEO of Sterlumiq, highlighted that the platform leverages optical sensing technology to enable continuous measurement of cable performance, allowing operators to move from reactive maintenance to predictive operations.

Operational Benefits

Sterlumiq’s CAMOS platform is expected to deliver measurable efficiencies, including:

  • Reduction in energy losses through early anomaly detection
  • Lower maintenance costs via remote diagnostics and reduced physical inspections
  • Enhanced transmission capacity through dynamic asset loading

Broad Industry Impact

The solutions are designed to support a wide range of stakeholders, including transmission and distribution utilities, renewable energy developers, industrial power users, and data centres—where reliability and uptime are critical.

Driving the Future of Intelligent Networks

With Sterlumiq, the partnership aims to redefine how cable infrastructure is monitored and managed, enabling smarter, more efficient, and resilient energy networks aligned with the future of digital and sustainable power systems.
