Apr 21 (BNP): PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) successfully hosted a high-level Business Delegation from Trinidad and Tobago at PHD House, New Delhi, fostering strategic dialogue and unlocking new avenues for bilateral trade and investment. Organized in collaboration with the Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association (TTMA), with AS International as the Associate Partner, the engagement brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, and trade bodies to explore synergies across priority sectors.

PHDCCI Hosts Trinidad & Tobago Business Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Trade Ties

The deliberations highlighted a strong growth trajectory in India–Trinidad & Tobago trade, with significant potential for expansion driven by strategic collaboration and sectoral complementarities.

Addressing the gathering, H.E. Mr. Chandradath Singh, High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago to India, said that the visit comes at a pivotal time when India’s economic landscape is witnessing rapid transformation, creating vast opportunities for global partnerships. He highlighted the need to deepen collaboration in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, emphasizing India’s global leadership in these sectors and the potential for joint efforts in building healthcare resilience, including development of commercial laboratories in the Caribbean.

Delivering the welcome address Dr. Ranjeet Mehta, CEO & Secretary General, PHDCCI, stated that India and Trinidad & Tobago share strong potential to significantly scale up bilateral trade. He reiterated PHDCCI’s commitment to act as a catalyst and bridge between industries of both nations, leveraging its extensive network of over 150,000 member enterprises to facilitate meaningful partnerships.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Mahindra Ramdeen, CEO, Trinidad and Tobago Manufacturers’ Association, noted that the delegation aims to enhance two-way trade and position Trinidad & Tobago as a strategic gateway to the Caribbean region. He emphasized the export readiness of Trinidad & Tobago products and the importance of building sustainable trade linkages with India.

Mr. Emil Ramkissoon, President, TTMA, underscored the importance of focused business engagements and outcome-driven discussions, stressing the need for actionable collaborations, market intelligence exchange and long-term partnerships. He also extended an invitation to Indian businesses to explore opportunities in Trinidad & Tobago.

During the session Mr. Hemanshoo Aggarwal, Export Head, AS International, shared insights on India’s growing trade footprint in the Caribbean, highlighting successful partnerships and the increasing demand for high-quality Indian products in the region.

The session was moderated by Mr. Naveen Seth, Deputy Secretary General, PHDCCI, who emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration and structured dialogue in translating discussions into concrete business outcomes.

A key highlight of the interaction was the strong focus on building long-term trade architecture, including logistics hubs, energy partnerships, and integrated supply chains, aimed at ensuring sustainable and scalable growth.

The event concluded with B2B meetings between Indian and Trinidad & Tobago companies, facilitating direct business interactions and paving the way for future collaborations.
