The ongoing Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 in Varanasi continues to strengthen the cultural bridge between Tamil Nadu and Kashi, reflecting the true essence of ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’, said Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Minister of State for Education.
During his visit to the vibrant cultural festival, Shri Chaudhary said the Sangamam brings “two ancient traditions even closer,” celebrating India’s diversity as a unifying force. The fourth edition of the event, which began on December 2, highlights the deep civilizational and spiritual ties shared by the two regions.
He noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kashi has evolved into a dynamic cultural hub, showcasing India’s commitment to preserving its heritage while fostering unity. “This renewed bond with Tamil Nadu reinforces the idea that India’s cultural unity is rooted in its diversity. This initiative is igniting understanding, pride and confidence across the nation,” he added.
Shri Chaudhary praised this year’s theme, “Learn Tamil – Tamil Karkalam,” emphasising that India’s linguistic diversity fosters connection and dialogue. He said such programmes encourage the youth to embrace mutual respect, cultural learning and collaboration.
During his tour, he witnessed cultural performances, exhibitions, language workshops and student exchange interactions, appreciating the craftsmanship, traditional arts and folk dances showcased by young participants.
Organised by the Ministry of Education and coordinated by IIT Madras and Banaras Hindu University (BHU), KTS 4.0 features several key initiatives, including:
-
The Sage Agasthya Vehicle Expedition from Tenkasi to Kashi,
-
Deployment of 50 Tamil teachers in Varanasi schools,
-
Tamil learning study tours for students from Uttar Pradesh,
-
Visits to important Tamil heritage sites across Varanasi.
This year’s edition has brought together over 1,400 delegates from seven groups—students, teachers, women, artisans, media professionals, spiritual scholars and working professionals—making it one of the most diverse cultural exchanges under the initiative.
Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0 continues to serve as a powerful symbol of cultural integration, celebrating India’s unity through its rich and varied traditions.
