TEDxIITRoorkee 2026  Zephyr of Change Inspires a Transformative Day at IIT Roorkee

Roorkee, Uttarakhand Apr 07: The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) successfully hosted TEDxIITRoorkee 2026 on April 5, 2026, under the theme “Zephyr of Change”. The event served as a vibrant platform for ideas, perspectives, and narratives that inspired reflection and transformation, bringing together a diverse lineup of speakers and an engaged audience.

TEDx, a globally recognized platform for “ideas worth spreading,” enables independently organized events under the TED umbrella. Continuing this legacy, TEDxIITRoorkee curated conversations centered on the theme “Zephyr of Change,” symbolizing a gentle yet powerful force driving transformation. The theme was reflected in a compelling speaker lineup, including a notable panel of inspiring women whose journeys embodied resilience, courage, and progressive change.

The event commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony, including the traditional Deep Prajwalan, followed by the IIT Roorkee Kulgeet. Dr. Barjeev Tyagi, Dean of Students’ Welfare (DOSW), addressed the gathering. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Ajanta Goswami, Associate Dean of Students’ Welfare (ADOSW); Dr. Sai Ramudu Meka, Associate Dean of Innovation and Incubation (ADII); and Dr. Varun Sharma, Coordinator, TEDxIITRoorkee. The dignitaries were felicitated with bouquets and mementoes, and the session concluded with the Curator’s address, setting the tone for the day.

The event featured an inspiring line-up of speakers. Dutee Chand, an international sprinter, shared her journey of resilience and determination, highlighting her rise from a traditional background to global recognition. Ella D’Verma presented a thought-provoking perspective on societal norms and individuality, encouraging the audience to challenge biases and embrace inclusivity. Simaran Kaur, renowned voice artist known as the voice of Nobita from Doraemon, spoke about her journey in the dubbing industry, emphasizing passion and perseverance. Laxmi Agarwal, acid attack survivor and advocate, delivered a deeply moving talk on courage, resilience, and self-belief in the face of adversity.

The event concluded with a captivating performance by Artsy Rohit, a noted speed painter, who combined art and storytelling through live creations. His performance featured visual representations, including the iconic Main Building of IIT Roorkee, portrayals of actor Ranveer Singh and cricketer Suryakumar Yadav, and a personal tribute, demonstrating the power of creative expression in engaging audiences.

TEDxIITRoorkee 2026 stood as a celebration of ideas that challenge conventions and inspire meaningful change, reinforcing IIT Roorkee’s commitment to fostering dialogue, creativity, and progressive thought.
