Global Summit on “Redesigning Supply Chains for Emerging Economies” Concludes with Strategic Vision and Renewed Academic–Industry Collaboration

Kolkata, Mar 30: A landmark Global Summit on Redesigning Supply Chains for Emerging Economies was successfully conducted, bringing together leading academicians, industry experts, policymakers, researchers, and students from across the globe. The summit was organized by Techno India University, West Bengal. jointly hosted with the Indian Institute of Materials Management (IIMM), Centre for Research in Materials Management (CRIMM), and The Association of Engineers, India.

 The summit addressed one of the most pressing global concerns- reimagining supply chains in the face of unprecedented disruptions, including pandemics, geopolitical shifts, climate change, and technological transformation. Experts emphasized the urgent need to move beyond traditional cost-driven models towards resilient, agile, digital, and sustainable supply chain ecosystems, particularly for emerging economies.

A major highlight of the event was the formal renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IIMM and Techno India University for the continued strengthening of Centre for Research in Materials Management( CRIMM), functioning as a joint research arm, which is committed to conducting cutting-edge research, fostering innovation, and developing practical solutions in the supply chain and materials management domain. This renewed partnership reinforces a shared vision to bridge academia and industry through impactful research, knowledge dissemination, and capacity building.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri P. M. Biddappa, National President of IIMM, remarked:

“Supply chains are the backbone of global supply networks, and their redesign is critical for ensuring resilience and sustainability in emerging economies. The collaboration with Techno India University will play a pivotal role in advancing research-driven solutions that are both globally relevant and locally adaptable.”

Prof. Manoshi Roychowdhury, Co-Chancellor of Techno India University, stated:

“This summit reflects our commitment to thought leadership and academic excellence. The renewal of our MoU with IIMM for CRIMM strengthens our resolve to create a world-class research ecosystem that integrates innovation, technology, and sustainability in supply chain management.”

Dr. Goutam Sengupta, Rector of Techno India University and the curator of the summit, emphasized:

“Emerging economies have a unique opportunity to leapfrog traditional supply chain models by leveraging digital technologies and indigenous innovations. This summit is designed to catalyze dialogue, inspire collaboration, and generate actionable insights that will shape the future of supply chains globally.”

The summit featured expert sessions on Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, advanced analytics, Industry 4.0, ESG integration, circular economy, and resilient supply chain design. It also served as a platform for showcasing best practices, research findings, and innovative solutions tailored to the challenges and opportunities of emerging markets.

The event concluded with a strong call for continued collaboration among academia, industry, and policymakers to co-create future-ready supply chains that are not only efficient but also sustainable, inclusive, and resilient.
