Gurugram, Mar 27: Radisson Hotel Group has announced the signing of Radisson Resort Kalimpong, marking the Group’s entry into the scenic hill station of Kalimpong. This development reinforces the company’s strategy to expand into high-potential leisure destinations and strengthen its footprint across Eastern India.

Radisson Hotel Group signs first internationally branded resort in Kalimpong, strengthens its leisure portfolio in Eastern India

Nestled in the Eastern Himalayas, Kalimpong is known for its pleasant climate, colonial-era charm, and panoramic views of the Kangchenjunga range. The destination continues to attract leisure travellers seeking alternatives to more saturated hill stations, while benefiting from proximity to key tourism circuits in the region.

Strategically located near a major state highway, the upcoming resort will offer seamless connectivity to towns across West Bengal and Sikkim, along with access to Siliguri, the region’s primary transportation hub. This positioning is expected to drive demand for weekend getaways, destination weddings, and experiential travel.

Commenting on the development, Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, said,

“Kalimpong represents a compelling opportunity as an underpenetrated leisure market with strong long-term potential. Being the first internationally branded hotel in the destination reflects our first-mover strategy of entering emerging markets early and shaping their hospitality landscape with trusted global brands.”

The Radisson Resort Kalimpong will feature 100 guest rooms, including 90 standard rooms and 10 suites, all designed to offer uninterrupted views of the Himalayan landscape. The property will include an all-day dining restaurant, a tea lounge, extensive banquet and conference facilities, and dedicated spaces for corporate and social events. Additional amenities such as a spa, fitness centre, and infinity swimming pool aim to deliver a holistic experience blending leisure, wellness, and business needs.

Highlighting the development perspective, Davashish Srivastava, Senior Director – Development, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, said,

“This project represents a strong opportunity to establish a premium branded resort in a destination with exceptional natural appeal and limited branded competition. With its elevated location and comprehensive facilities, the resort is well-positioned to cater to leisure travellers, weddings, and corporate retreats.”

Rohit Gupta, Director, Gajbadan Tradewing Private Limited, added,

“This partnership marks a significant milestone for Kalimpong’s tourism landscape. By bringing an internationally recognised brand to the destination, we aim to elevate the overall hospitality experience and create a landmark property for travellers.”

With over 200 hotels in operation and development across India, Radisson Hotel Group continues to expand aggressively, particularly in tier-2 and tier-3 markets. The addition of Radisson Resort Kalimpong further strengthens its commitment to unlocking new destinations and delivering world-class hospitality experiences across the country.
