Hon’ble Minister Rohan A. Khaunte Meets Citizens in Mapusa, Resolves Grievances First-Hand

Mapusa, Mar 24: Reinforcing his commitment to people-first governance, Honble Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte visited the Deputy Collector’s Office in Mapusa on March 23 to personally meet citizens and address their long-pending grievances taking governance beyond files and directly to the people.

Known for his hands-on and people-centric approach, the Minister’s visit reflected his continued effort to stay connected with the community, understand their real challenges, and ensure that solutions are delivered on the ground. A true people’s representative, the Minister focused on not just hearing concerns but actively working towards resolving them.

During the visit, he interacted one-on-one with local residents facing delays in cases related to land, property, regularisation, and mundkarial matters. By listening to their concerns firsthand, he worked closely with the Deputy Collector and other key officials to understand the reasons behind pending cases and identify immediate, practical solutions, demonstrating his commitment to moving beyond promises and ensuring real outcomes for the people of Goa.

The Minister held detailed discussions with Vasant Dabholkar (IAS), Deputy Collector II, Bardez, along with senior officials including Pundalik Khorjuvekar, Additional Collector III (North Goa), Varsha Parab, Deputy Collector I (Bardez) and Anant Malik, Mamlatdar Bardez, focusing on clearing backlogs, prioritising genuine cases, and delivering timely justice to the common man.

Several issues raised by citizens were addressed on the spot, further reinforcing the Minister’s approach of accessible governance and his intent to directly help and support local communities.

Speaking on the initiative, Honble Tourism Minister Rohan A. Khaunte said, “It is important for us to step out and understand the real challenges faced by our people. While systems and processes exist, meeting citizens in person allows us to identify gaps, fast-track solutions, and ensure that justice is not delayed. My focus is to ensure that no genuine case is left pending and that every Goan feels heard, supported, and empowered.”

Emphasising the need for consistent engagement, the Minister announced that he plans to visit the office regularly, with a commitment to hold such review interactions once every month. This, he noted, will help monitor progress, prioritise pending cases, and ensure that the common people of Goa receive timely support and resolution.

By choosing direct, in-person engagement over existing online processes, the initiative reflects a conscious effort to make governance more accessible, responsive, and humane, marking a step forward in building a more transparent, efficient, and people-centric “New Goa.”
