Kolkata, Mar 19th:  TCG CREST (Deemed University) announced the opening of applications for its PhD Programme 2026, inviting aspiring researchers to pursue cutting-edge research across emerging interdisciplinary domains. It aims to equip PhD candidates to address complex real-world challenges through innovation, collaboration, and advanced scientific inquiry. The last date to apply is 15 April 2026 and the academic session for the new batch of PhD candidates will begin in August 2026.

The PhD programme is offered across multiple schools including the School of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, and the School of Health, Environment & Sustainability Studies. The admission process will be conducted in several stages, a written examination (as required) followed by a personal interview. Final selection will be based on the candidate’s overall performance in these assessments and their research potential.

Selected PhD scholars at TCG CREST will receive competitive financial support, including a monthly Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), with progression to a Senior Research Fellowship (SRF) upon successful completion of candidacy. Scholars are also provided an annual contingency grant for research and academic development, along with travel support to participate in conferences, workshops, and training programmes in India and abroad. Other avenues include government fellowships, research grants, industry sponsorships, and self-funding options.

CREST’s research ecosystem is strengthened by Centres of Excellence such as the Centre for High Impact Neuroscience and Translational Applications (CHINTA), Centre for Quantum Engineering, Research and Education (CQuERE), Institute for Advancing Intelligence (IAI), The Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE), Food Technology and Science Institute (FTSI), and Cancer-related Advanced Research and Education (CARE), enabling interdisciplinary collaboration and access to advanced research infrastructure.
