Gwalior, Mar 16: Spreading awareness about the importance of girl child education, the ‘Amity Bhaag India – Race for Girl Child Education’ marathon was successfully held in Gwalior on Sunday. The event, themed “Run for Her Right to Learn,” saw enthusiastic participation from students, athletes, corporate representatives, faculty members, and fitness groups. The marathon commenced at the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE) and concluded at Amity International School, Gwalior.

1,800 Participants Run for Girl Child Education at ‘Amity Bhaag India’ Marathon in Gwalior

 Around 1,800 participants took part in the event, which featured three categories — 3 km run, 5 km fun run, and 10 km competitive run. Winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates, while the registration fees collected were contributed to the Amitasha Foundation, supporting education for underprivileged girls.

Dr Amita Chauhan, Chairperson of Amity Group of Schools and RBEF, addressed the event virtually, applauding the participants and highlighting that ‘Bhaag India’ represents a collective commitment to ensuring every girl’s right to education. The Gwalior chapter of ‘Amity Bhaag India’ was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, who appreciated the initiative as a step towards positive social change.

The event was graced by dignitaries including Lt Gen V.K. Sharma (Retd), Pro-Chancellor of Amity University Gwalior, Vice-Chancellor Prof R.S. Tomar, and Dr Deepika Bhambhani, Principal of Amity International School, Gwalior, who emphasized that empowering girls through education is crucial for achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The valedictory and prize distribution ceremony was attended by Brigadier Dharm Veer Singh as the chief guest, along with Deputy Commissioner Shishir Shrivastava, social activist Savitri Shrivastava, and ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ brand ambassador Varsha Chauhan.

The event received support from several organisations, including GAIL (Gold Partner), Prem Motors, Amul, Amrit Aqua, Mafatlal, Cornitos, Deoraj Hospital, Goonj 90.8 FM, TNN World, Glomart, and many more.

Conceptualised and coordinated by Ruchikka Krishnani, the Gwalior marathon marked the third chapter of the ‘Bhaag India’ series, following successful editions in Raipur and Lucknow. The initiative continues to spread awareness about girl child education across India while engaging communities in active social participation.
