Pune, Mar 14: In a remarkable show of coordination and dedication, DPU Super Specialty Hospital, Pimpri, Pune, and the Maharashtra Police Department successfully facilitated a green corridor for the transport of donor lungs from KIMS Hospital,Thane, to its facility in Pune, ensuring the timely and safe delivery of this precious gift of life within the stipulated time in order to maintain the quality of the organ for the hospital’s 50th Heart Lung Transplant.

Hon’ble Dr. P.D. Patil, Chancellor, Dr. D.Y. On March 12, a meticulously coordinated and seamlessly executed road transfer ensured the safe transportation of donor lungs from KIMS Hospital, Thane to DPU Super Specialty Hospital. The team of doctors and support staff departed from KIMS Hospital at 10:15 AM, and the lungs reached DPU Super Specialty Hospital at 12:40 PM. This timely effort has made it possible for a critically ill patient to undergo a life-saving lung transplant, offering them a renewed chance at life.

Under the guidance of Mr. Sandesh Chavan, Regional Transport Officer, Pimpri Chinchwad; Mr. Rahul Jadhav, Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Pimpri Chinchwad; Mrs. Hemangini Patil, Regional Transport Officer, Thane; and Mr. Rohit  Katkar, Deputy Regional Transport Officer, Thane,a green corridor was successfully created to facilitate the swift transportation of a vital organ.

Through the coordinated efforts of the Regional Transport Offices of Thane and Pimpri Chinchwad along with the Police Department of Pimpri Chinchwad, the organ was transported in a timely manner, ensuring it reached its destination for a critical transplant procedure and ultimately helping save a life.

The police personnel, medical teams and support staff involved in the operation demonstrated exemplary coordination and swift action, ensuring the safe and timely transport of the donor lungs. The green corridor and organ coordination were overseen by a dedicated team from DPU Super Specialty Hospital, including Dr. Ashish Dolas, Dr. Rahul Kendre, Valmik (OT Nurse), Nikhil Laki (Perfusionist), Arun (Transplant Coordinator) and Vishal Patil (Technician), whose collective efforts were instrumental in the success of this life-saving mission.
