Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 13: The Kerala State Government’s flagship digital infrastructure initiative, Kerala Fibre Optic Network Limited (KFON), has been honored with the prestigious “Broadband Telecom Company of the Year” award at the Asian Telecom Awards 2026.
The Asian Telecom Awards, organized by Asian Telecom, a leading international mobile and communication publication, recognizes telecom organizations and industry leaders across Asia that drive innovation and shape the future of connectivity.
KFON has made remarkable progress in strengthening digital infrastructure across Kerala. The project has successfully laid 32,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable and established 375 fully operational Points of Presence (POPs) across the state, which function as district-level internet gateways, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted network operations. At the heart of this network is the Network Operations Centre (NOC) at Kochi,which continuously monitors and manages the network to ensure seamless connectivity across the state.

This recognition acknowledges the progress Kerala has made in building a strong digital infrastructure and ensuring affordable high-speed internet reaches people across the state. KFON, a strategic initiative of the Government of Kerala, has already crossed 1.5 lakh internet connections, providing affordable high-speed broadband access to households, government institutions, and businesses across the state. The recognition further highlights KFON’s growing role in strengthening digital connectivity, empowering communities, and supporting socio-economic development through technology.
