The Market Overview of Sujata Muguda for Business News for Profit

On September 19, 2024, The BSE Sensex rose by 236.57 points, or 0.29%, to close at 83,184.80, after hitting a record intraday high of 83,773.61.

Similarly, the Nifty50 reached an all-time high of 25,611.95 before finishing the day with a gain of 38.25 points, or 0.15%, at 25,415.80.

Despite a volatile session, the bulls came out on top as 30 stocks on the Nifty50 index ended in the green. NTPC, Titan, Nestle India, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Tata Consumer Products led the gains, climbing up to 2.38%.

On the BSE, 17 of the 30 Sensex stocks also finished in positive territory. NTPC, Nestle India, Titan, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Maruti Suzuki India, and Hindustan Unilever were among the top performers, with gains of up to 2.45%.

Broader market indices struggled, with small-cap stocks facing the steepest decline. The Nifty Smallcap 100 index dropped by 1.26%, while the Nifty Midcap 100 index, after recovering 1.08% from its intraday low, still ended 0.67% lower.

Bank Nifty extended its winning streak for the sixth straight session, driven by AU Bank and Kotak Bank. Nifty FMCG was the top sectoral performer, closing 0.60% higher, thanks to strong showings from UBL and Balrampur Chini Mills.

Nifty Realty gained 0.5%, reaching a one-month high, with Phoenix and Oberoi Realty leading the way. However, other sectors such as Media, PSU Bank, Metal, Pharma, IT, and OMCs ended the day in the red.
