Dhanbad, Mar 02:  Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) successfully convened its 82nd Corporate Bipartite Safety Committee Meet at Sankalp Hall, ECL Headquarters, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to worker safety and operational excellence.

 The meeting was inaugurated under the guidance of Shri Satish Jha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, and Shri Niladri Roy, Director (Technical) (Operations), setting the tone for constructive and forward-looking deliberations.

Members of the Corporate Safety Board, along with trade union representatives including Shri Madhab Banerjee (WBKMS, UTUC), Shri Binod Singh (CMSI, CITU), Shri Shrikant Dutta (KSC, BMS), Shri Anil Kumar Singh (CMS, AITUC), Shri Jayanta Kumar Mitra (CMC, HMS), and Shri Ranjeev Kumar Ray (IMMA), joined Senior HoDs, Area General Managers, and Area Safety Officers to strengthen the culture of safety across ECL operations.

The programme, led by the General Manager (Safety & Rescue) with support from the ISO team, began with a Safety Pledge, followed by detailed discussions on critical areas including:

  • Workforce safety and healthcare initiatives

  • Strengthening supervisory roles

  • Emergency preparedness for Monsoon 2026

  • Scientific commissioning of POB plants

  • Safe blasting practices

  • Upgrading escape routes

  • Dissemination of safety alerts

  • Capacity building of operators

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to foster a safer, healthier, and more resilient mining environment, reinforcing ECL’s steadfast dedication to protecting every member of its workforce.
