Feb 26: Staying true to its promise of delivering light-hearted and relatable family entertainment, &TV recently took its upcoming divine dramedy, Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan!, to the spiritually vibrant city of Ujjain for a special on-location shoot. Revered as the city of Mahakal and home to the sacred Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, there could have been no more meaningful place to begin filming a story that explores faith, changing human values, and divine intervention.
Set in Ujjain, the show blends everyday Indian life with a gentle mythological twist. Filming in the very city where the narrative unfolds added authenticity and emotional depth to Mahesh Sharma’s (Jayshankar Tripathi) journey of honesty, belief, and unexpected divine guidance. Tarun Khanna, who essays the role of Mahadev, the divine force observing and guiding humanity, brings a powerful spiritual dimension to the story.
The team shot across the city’s iconic ghats, temple surroundings, and serene riverbanks, capturing the simplicity and sacred energy that form the heart of the narrative. The spiritual atmosphere of Ujjain naturally enriched the storytelling, grounding the characters and their journeys in a sense of realism and devotion that only the city of Mahakal could offer.
Speaking about the experience, Tarun Khanna aka Mahadev, shared,
“Shooting in Ujjain was truly a special experience for me. Since our show is set in this sacred city, filming here added a layer of authenticity that simply cannot be recreated on a set. Being amidst the people and the culture we are portraying helped me connect more deeply with the story. The spiritual energy of Ujjain is incredibly powerful, and it naturally strengthened my connection with Mahadev. What made this schedule even more memorable was celebrating my birthday in this holy city. After pack-up, I would often visit the temples and spend quiet moments reflecting, soaking in the serenity around me.”
Jayshankar Tripathi, who plays the honest lawyer Mahesh Sharma, said,
“Filming in Ujjain strengthened my connection to Mahesh’s core values of truth and integrity. Being surrounded by such deep-rooted faith and devotion made the character’s journey feel even more authentic. The warmth and simplicity of the local people were truly inspiring, and in many ways, the city beautifully mirrors the spirit of our show. During our shoot, I also enjoyed immersing myself in the local culture, from interacting with the locals to relishing simple delights like traditional poha and jalebi by the ghats, it all made the experience both personal and profound.”
Hey Bhagwaan – Kitna Badal Gaya Insaan! will premiere soon on &TV and stream exclusively on Hindi Z5.
