LOS ANGELES, Feb. 25: Building on a celebrated film career, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Pen Densham is exploring a radically experimental new path in fine art photography. Known for his work on Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Densham now uses his camera not to capture landscapes, but to translate the emotional essence of nature into bold, impressionistic imagery.

“I’ve been on a 17-year journey of letting go of everything I was taught and trying to find out how I could get people to a place where they could feel what nature is through photography,” Densham said. “I want to make music for the eyes with my camera. I want to be the Jimi Hendrix of photography.”

His work transforms natural elements into visually and emotionally resonant forms: waves ripple like brushstrokes, trees shimmer with motion, and koi ponds swirl like dreamscapes. This experimental vision was inspired by Densham’s teenage daughter exploring photography freely, reminding him that true art begins in freedom rather than control.

Densham’s ethereal images have been exhibited in Los Angeles galleries including Here Is Elsewhere, Loisir Gallery, and Posner Fine Art, attracting collectors from Malibu to Monaco.

His book, Qualia, gathers his most striking works—from swirling koi ponds to kaleidoscopic “Organic Mandalas”—capturing sensory experiences that words cannot describe. While not for sale, a complimentary digital version is available via the link at the end of this release.
